Entracque
Entracque is a small town in the Valle Gesso, in the Alpes-Maritimes, in northwestern Italy, about 20 kilometers southwest of Cuneo and close to the French border.
Entracque Dam
On this route, we will pass through Borgo San Dalmazzo via SS20 to the roundabout with the monument to the Maritime Alps. From there we will continue straight via SS22.
We will pass through Andonno, heading towards Valdieri. In Valdieri, if you want to take a coffee break, there is a café in the square with tables inside and outside. It's called Bar Sport.
From Valdieri we follow the SS22 until a roundabout. Take the second exit on the left, towards Entracque. From there, just keep going straight. You will see some exits on the right, but keep going straight until you start going up. This climb appears to be worse than it really is! There is a direct option just before the climb to follow a cycle path, or follow the track itself.
Follow the route with the help of your GPS and we will enter the beautiful little town of Entracque. We will then make a quick descent and arrive at a point where there is a large parking lot for cars. There you will find a great Vecchio Mulino restaurant, where you can have a delicious lunch. Further ahead you will see the pool area and the Fondo Ski Center. We will continue straight, following the road towards the dam.
We will pass through the lower part of the dam, then take a short climb to the hydroelectric plant's visitor center. From this point you can decide to return following the return route or go left to go to the upper part of the dam!
The view of the dam lake, with the mountains in the background, forms a cinematic setting!
Well... time to go back! Head back to the hydroelectric plant's visitor center and from there we will continue straight, without returning through the dam. On this path you will also pass in front of Parque do Lobo. This path also offers a beautiful view of the city of Entracque seen in the distance. At the end of the last descent you will reach SS22 where you already passed on the way out. Just go in the opposite direction, passing through Valdieri (which on the way back has wonderful scenery) and shortly after passing through Andonno, we will turn right and cross the bridge. After the bridge, turn left and go straight until a roundabout. Once there, take the second exit and go straight (pay attention to intersections). At the end we will turn left and go over another bridge to the roundabout that we passed on the way there. From then on, just follow the opposite path and arrive at our store for a coffee and chat!
